In Memory of Peace Activist Abdulkadir Yahya

On the evening of August 14, 2005, a memorial was held in Toronto Canada for one of the most die hard and well known peace-activists who was targeted and assassinated by unknown assailants. Abdukhadir Yahya Ali was founder of CRD and director of the center. He was killed at his home in Mogadishu on July 11th 2005.

Present at the memorial were friends, family, special guest, dignitaries, member of parliament, religious leaders and those who shared his philosophy and ideas of peace, unity and national dialogue.

The special guests who spoke at the memorial include Honourable Roy Collins (MP); His Execllence Former Prime Minister of Somalia, Dr. Ali Khalif Galayr, ;his colleague and co-founder Jibril Ibrahim Abdulle; activist Amina Sharif; and community leaders such as Ibrahim Absiye and Mahad Yusuf.

The event was was attended by over 300 people from various parts of Canada and the US..

There was a soccer match established in his name and the teams competed for the Yahya Ali Cup, which was won by Iftin team.
