The Somali
Under-20 team, led by three players who are army lieutenants,
jetted into Entebbe Airport at 3.30 pm on a Blue Bell Air
chartered plane from Mogadishu.
The team,
who play Uganda over one leg in the Africa youth championship
qualifiers on Saturday, were however delayed over visa clearance
in Entebbe for over two hours.
FIFA protocol
chief Boniface Oryema battled with Immigration officers before
clearing sh1m in visas fees for a contingent of 23 people
that includes the only female member on the team, physician
Mako Hussein.
Somali
coach Mohammed Sakaria said: "We promise Ugandans the best
soccer ever seen from Somalia. I prefer a 4-2-4 in attack.
The journey
was fine, we are ready." The Somalis are booked at Tourist
Hotel.
The Ugandan
Hippos meanwhile, are in buoyant mood and have promised victory.
The match
is set for Nakivubo stadium with Busiro East MP Dr Timothy
Mutesasira chief guest. Charges are sh3,000; sh5,000 and sh10,000.
"We are
ready for Somalia and I know we are beating them," said skipper
Jimmy Kidega.
Hippos
striker Hussein Mbalangu said: "Ugandans have not celebrated
victory at Nakivubo for long and we promise to win."
