The new interim President of Somalia, Abdulkassim Salad Hassan, is beginning a regional tour to garner support for his administration.

He is due to arrive in Cairo later today Saturday on the first leg of his trip. Yesterday Mr Hassan was greeted by cheering crowds at a rally in Baidoa - one of the Somali cities worst affected by nearly a decade of fighting between rival clans.

He told the crowd that priority would be given to the reconstruction of Baidoa once he would put together a new government.
