Somali President Abdulkassim Salat Hassan Thursday thanked Libya's leader, Colonel
Moamer Kadhafi, for his role in advancing "national reconciliation" in Somalia,
a Libyan official said. During
a meeting with Kadhafi, he also thanked the Libyan leader for economic aid Libya
had provided to Somalia.
Salat arrived in the coastal city of Sirte late Wednesday on the third leg of
an international trip abroad after being elected last month by members of a newly
formed transitional parliament, meeting in neighbouring Djibouti.
He had alredy traveled to Cairo on September 2 to attend a meeting of Arab League
ministers and to the United Nations General Assembly in New York on September
8. He is the
