A plane-load of relief assistance from the UAE Red Crescent Society, RCS, will leave here for the Eritrean capital, Asmara, to deliver relief assistance, including various food items, medicines and medical equipment, to drought victims in that Horn of Africa country.
According to Khalifa Nasir Al Suwaidi, Board Chairman of the RCS, the assistance was part of his organisation's efforts to alleviate the sufferings of those people in that part of the African Continent, who are facing difficult situation as a result of severe drought which had stricken several African countries.
He said that the RCS' programme aims at delivering emergency relief assistance to those badly affected as at now, adding that the RCS will deliver more assistance to the victims later on. WAM/SA
