Heavy rains have caused havoc in Galkayo, central Somalia, according to the Somali newspaper 'Xog-Ogaal.

Severe storms had also killed people and livestock in Nugal and Bari, north-eastern Somalia, destroyed roads in Shabelle, southern Somalia, and damaged the road that links Garoowe and Bosasso, the paper added.

Torrential rains had cut off Erigavo in Sanaag region, hiking the price of essential commodities because fresh supplies could not be transported to the town, Radio Hargeisa reported from Somaliland.
