Policemen disband Puntland clan conference

HornAfrik Online text web site on 7 November Reports from
Garoowe [northeastern Somalia, Puntland administrative capital]
say members of a special police force in Puntland have occupied
the venue of the Garoowe clan conference and the national
bank.
The police
force whose loyalty is unknown is reported to have been complaining
of salary delays. The matter has caused tension in Garoowe
and has disrupted the clan conference which has been taking
place there.

Interim government invites world media to verify reports on
terrorism

The interim
[Somali] government has announced that it is inviting the
international media to ascertain claims about the existence
of Usamah Bin-Ladin's Al-Qa'idah training camps in Somalia,
a claim that has been made by Ethiopia.
Deputy
government spokesman Hasan Muhammad Haji Dusos told Qaran
that his government was contacting the world media to know
where the terrorist camps are located.
"Somalia
has been facing destruction for the last 10 years and is not
a threat to anyone," said Mr Dusos who denied the claims by
Ethiopia about the terrorist camps.
Mr Dusos
also said the interim government would cooperate with the
international community on investigations into the operations
of suspect companies that transfer money.

Seized fishing trawler reportedly freed in Puntland

Reports
from Eyl [northeastern Somalia, Puntland] say a fishing trawler
which was being held there for four months has been freed.
The ship
had 12 foreigners on board including the crew. According to
reports, an unspecified amount of ransom was paid to free
the trawler.

Six killed in southcentral region as militiamen clash

Six people
were killed early yesterday morning at a place called Dhariyow,
10 km from Wanlaweyn in Lower Shabelle Region [southcentral
Somalia] during fighting between militiamen allied to Muse
Sudi Yalahow, who is away in Ethiopia, and area clan militiamen.
Four
of the dead men were from the area, while two were from Mr
Yalahow's forces which had left Jawhar, Middle Shabelle Region,
the previous night for the Somali-Ethiopian border to receive
a consignment of arms donated by Ethiopia to the group.
Independent
reports say Mr Yalahow's militiamen who were in 10 technicals
[pickups mounted with guns] and five lorries are reported
to have taken away a VHF radio from Dhariyow and headed for
Ethiopia yesterday.
The vice-chairman
of the political committee of the Galje'el clan, Mr Mahmud
Muhammad Abdille (Hefo), accused Mr Yalahow's militiamen of
carrying out provocative attacks on the area inhabited by
his clan...
