More than 3,000 militiamen have deserted government training camps to come looting in Mogadishu, Local Somali non-governmental Organizations (NGOs) warned.

Somali Human Rights and Peace Network (SHRPN) chairperson Habiba Haji Jumale told AFP here that the militiamen have deserted the camps in the past two weeks due to non-payment of their allowances . " Donations of millions of dollars by friends of Somalia have been misappropriated .

We are demanding accountability for that money", said Habiba Jumale, whose SHRPN groups are all local Somali NGOs
