The new Somali president, Abdiqasim Salad Hasan, yesterday held a meeting in Djibouti with the UN special envoy to Somalia, David Stephen. The two leaders reviewed the UN General Assembly meeting held in New York which Abdiqasim Salad Hasan attended.

The new Somali president said he held talks with the UN secretary general, Kofi Annan, during his stay in New York and discussed with him how the UN could offer support to the Somali nation.

The UN special envoy to Somalia, Mr David Stephen, said the UN agencies are ready to participate in the reconstruction of the Somali nation.
