SOMALI FOREIGN MINISTER RECEIVED BY HIS UAE COUNTERPART !

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Transitional Government of Somalia Abdullahi Sheikh Ismail,who is currently visiting here, was received yesterday morning at the UAE Foreign Ministry by his counterpart Mohamed Hussein Al-Shaali, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates.

During the meeting, various bilateral issues of mutual concern to both countries were discussed. The Somali Minister gave a detailed information on the current political and security situation of the Horn of Africa and the efforts and needs of the government in stabilzing the country.

The UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs assured the Somali delegation of the readyness of his government in extending needed assistance to the people and Government of Somalia. Also the issue of a proposed official visit by the Somali Prime Minister to the UAE later this year was positively discussed .

The Somali Foreign Minister is expected to receive today envoys of the Gulf Countries who are resident in Abu Dhabi. He was also interviewed yesterday by the Korean Broadcasting System on the seizure of a South Korean fishing ship on the coast of Somalia .
