Somaliland President Mohammed Ibrahim Egal reiterated Somaliland's refusal to participate in the current Somali peace negotiations on Arta, Djibouti, the newspaper 'Xog-Ogaal' reported on Tuesday.

It said Somali elders attending the Arta talks had received a "long-awaited response" from Egal to their proposal to send a delegation to Hargeisa to meet him.

Egal's letter said the Djibouti conference was irrelevant to Somaliland whether the delegation came to Hargeisa or not and added that Somaliland would not take part in the conference.
