The Arab League is expected to donate 150m dollars towards the rehabilitation of schools and health institutions in Somalia.

A Saudi government radio station disclosed yesterday that the donation was the first part of a large amount of aid money earmarked for Somalia by the Arab League.

Three weeks ago the Somali interim president, Abdiqasim Salad Hasan, addressed a summit of the Arab League in Cairo and appealed for financial assistance, saying that Somalia, as one of the family of Arab nations, deserved support.
