Special arrangements for distributing relief items that were flown in here by the UAE Red Cresent Society (RCS) were discussed in a meeting today between Ahmed Sadiq Al Khaja, Deputy Director of the UAE RCS's relief department, and senior Somali officials who included Mahmoud Ali Hassan, Assistant Interior Minister, Ahmad Deria, Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs and a number of officials .
"The delegation is here to workout arrangements on implementing the directives of H. H Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, to send relief items to help the Somali people before the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan, "Al Khaja said in a statement. He also added that the relief campaign in Somalia will continue to provide assistance to the somalia people. " Food aid packages will be distributed in the next few days for the needy in camps, hospitals, and for widows and orphans,"said Ali Al Shehi, a volunteer in the RCS.
Somali Ass. Interior Minister Mahmoud Ali Hassan lauded the President Sheikh Zayed's generosity to the Somali people. He added that the relief items would be distributed to areas which are in dire need, populated by about 500,000 people. The airlifting of aid to Somalia was implemented under the directives of the President Sheikh Zayed and H. H Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander.
