Somali government forces backed by Ethiopian regular troops withdrew from Bur-hakaba town for the second time the day before yesterday . Local militia fighters reportedly reinforced by Islamic Courts battlewagons immediately took over the town.
This is a total disaster for the transitional federal government of President Abdullahi Yusuf and Premier Ali M. Gedi, who were about to visit the town to provide moral support to their troops.
On the other hand, the federal government backed Juba Valley Alliance militia were defeated in their fight on Sunday, the 22nd October 2006, against the islamic forces on the outskirts of Bu'ale, the capital of Middle Jubba region .
President Abdullahi Yusuf is now waiting reinforcements from his native Puntland region, which have reportedly reached Abud-Waq town.
